| Wind Tunnel Testing for Wind Loads on Structures - CD Seminar | |
|
| Course Description |
| The wind load provisions of the IBC Building Code and ASCE 7 wind load standard permit wind tunnel testing to define wind loads on buildings and structures to replace those of the analytic provisions. Because a building code must cover a wide range of building shapes with limited analytical procedures, the wind loads determined for a specific structure are often less than code requirements. This webinar-on-CD presents the types of wind tunnel tests that are typically performed, the results to be expected, the typical benefits of the tests, guidance on when testing is beneficial, and an indication of approximate costs. This webinar-on-CD is based on ASCE publications “Minimum Design Loads on Buildings and Other Structures (ASCE 7)” and “Wind Tunnel Model Studies of Buildings and Structures (ASCE Manual of Practice Number 67)”. In addition, standard wind-tunnel practices not published in easily accessible documents are outlined. |

"It is a great format. It allows many of us to gather in the conference room during lunch hour to attend the seminar in a very efficient and limited timeframe. The hour length is fantastic. It fits into our brown bag lunch seminar plan."
"In an environment where time management is so crucial, it is wonderful to be able to attend a meaningful seminar with such little ancillary time commitments such as travel and coordination. My compliments. ASCE has found the perfect seminar format for today's busy professional." |
