| | | | | The number and complexity of road, street, and highway construction projects increase every year, as traffic volumes also continue to increase. This creates a volatile mix that too frequently results in fatalities, injuries, and property damage from crashes in work zones. The safety of both the traveling public and the workers exposed to these conditions continue to be a concern to the engineering and construction communities. In addition, both government agencies and private firms have found that there is considerable liability exposure related to work site safety. Engineers and others involved in the design of work zone traffic control plans and those responsible for implementing these plans should be adequately trained in this important subject. The design of work zone traffic control plans and the safe operation of work zones on site are emphasized in this seminar. The course will present nationally accepted standards and criteria, as well as good practices from around the country. A wide range of technical material will be presented in an easy to understand format, using lectures, real-world examples and realistic, hands-on workshops. |
